Driving Under the Influence
Despite big cultural shifts over the last several decades, some people are still driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Impaired Driving Cases in Halifax 2020
This July 2020 alone, the Halifax Regional Police charged thirty drivers with impaired driving-related offences. This dangerous and illegal behaviour often results in serious motor vehicle accidents, where innocent people are hurt through no fault of their own. Those people call NOVA Injury Law, to help them get compensation from the at-fault party’s insurance company.
(a) Of the thirty drivers charged, twenty-eight were charged concerning alcohol and operation of a motor vehicle, and two drivers were charged with drug-impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
(b) Of the drivers that provided breath samples, nearly half showed an alcohol level at least twice the legal limit.
(c) Many of these impaired drivers were caught because concerned citizens noticed the telltale signs of someone driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

What Should I Do if I Spot an Impaired Driver?
