How Much is your Monthly LTD Benefit Payment?

To calculate the amount of your Long-Term Disability benefit amount payable under the Nova Scotia Health Association LTD Plan you will need to know your pre-disability salary. The monthly salary is determined by taking the amount of your regular pay on the last day of work multiplied by 1/12 of the annualized work hours. A part-term worker payment will be applicable for those who work less than 70 regular scheduled hours.

For these workers, work over the past 6 months will be considered. Your payment will be equal to 70% of your pre-disability monthly salary up to a maximum of $15,000 per month. An increase to $20,000 is available to those who have gone through medical underwriting has been completed. All LTD benefits under the Plan are taxable. This means that deductions will be paid by the Employer. All payments are made in arrears – which means that you will be paid for what you are owed rather than what you will earn.
