Dr. Laura Mitchell  is the Chief Medical Consultant at NOVA Injury Law. Dr. Mitchell's expertise as a family physician, coupled with her specialized training  in emergency medicine, provide her with an exceptional ability to appreciate both the immediate and ongoing management of  injuries.

Dr. Mitchell completed her undergraduate work at UPEI. She then finished medical school and a family medicine residency at Memorial. After working as a rural/remote family physician in Newfoundland and Labrador, Dr. Mitchell committed to furthering her skills in Emergency Medicine by undertaking additional residency training at Dalhousie University.

Dr. Mitchell has worked at four different hospitals in Nova Scotia and appreciates how the medical systems resources impact the treatment of accident and injury victims across the province. Her knowledge of family medicine allows her to appreciate proper follow up following a trip to an emergency department and to identify opportunities for improvement in management of patient's medical health.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Mitchell is committed to advancing her interests in Occupational Medicine, a field which involves workplace health and safety, assessing disability and ability to work. Dr. Mitchell is expected to achieve an Associate Membership to the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine in 2020.

Dr. Mitchell is actively involved with medical aspects of a client's file. She is called upon to offer expert guidance, identify opportunities for changes in medical management, and assist in the quantification of injury claims.
